CDMA Roaming Tips
CDMA networks are present in Asia , North & South America , India , China and some countries of Eastern Europe . In Europe however there is only GSM coverage, which makes Roaming service available only through special dual standard (R- UIM*) cards, which have to be placed in the GSM telephones, or through dual standard (WorldMode) telephones that support both CDMA and GSM networks (in both cases you preserve your telephone number).

Before you travel also check with your home operator:
- If roaming service is activated on your account
- What kind of standard is used in your destination country and what alternative is available in case there is no CDMA coverage. Make sure you know how to switch from CDMA to GSM networks.
- Prices for the roaming service in the destination country
- Any international price packages that your home operator offers at the moment
- If you can use SMS & Data Roaming services in your destination country
- If you are heading for a cruise, check if roaming is available on your cruise ship
Also:
- Don’t forget to switch off your voicemail! Remember that calling your voicemail from abroad can cost the same as making a call to your country. Unlike at home, you may be charged every time someone leaves a message on your voicemail.
- Make sure you have a compatible power adapter so you can charge your handset.
- Make sure you know the international format for telephone numbers by adding the international calling codes for the countries you wish to contact.
- Alert your operator immediately if your phone is lost or stolen. If your phone is lost or stolen when you are abroad remember that you could be liable for the cost of the calls made in that country. Make a note of the contact details of your operator before you travel to ensure that you can get in touch with them as soon as possible to report the loss.
